How it works
Click a line of the document to rewrite it: the tool keeps its size, its colour and the closest font, with the same widths as Helvetica, Times or Courier. The other buttons in the toolbar add text where you click, place a white box to cover something, highlight, draw a freehand signature or insert a JPG or PNG image. Every element can be moved, resized or deleted before you save. A PDF form is filled in directly on the page — text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, lists — and the Form field button creates new fields; you can also flatten the form so its values can no longer be changed. The rest of the PDF is not rewritten: the original text, links and quality are preserved, and the document stays searchable.
FAQ
Does the text I replace disappear from the file?
Yes, in most cases. Unlike most online editors, which merely cover the old text, the tool removes it from the page content before writing the new one: it no longer comes back with copy and paste. When removal is not safe — text inside a graphic block, an unreadable font, a line run together with another —, the old text stays under a cover; the tool reads back the file it produced and tells you. The Cover button, for its part, only hides: for sensitive information — a name, a number, an amount — use Redact.
Why isn't the font exactly the same?
A PDF often embeds only part of its fonts, limited to the characters already used, so they cannot be used to write anything else. The rewritten text therefore uses the closest of three open fonts, Liberation Sans, Serif and Mono, with the same widths as Helvetica, Times and Courier: bold or italic where needed, at the same size and in the same colour. The preview shows the very font that will be saved. They cover the full Latin alphabet, Greek and Cyrillic; any character they cannot write (CJK, emoji, right-to-left scripts) is flagged before saving.
Can I fill in and sign a PDF form?
Yes. The form's fields appear as boxes to fill in: type, tick, pick from the list, then save — the file stays a form others can complete, unless you tick “Flatten the form”. The Form field button adds your own fields (text, checkbox, radio button, drop-down list). To sign, draw your signature with the mouse, a finger or a stylus, or insert a photo of it: that is the equivalent of a document signed and scanned, not a qualified electronic signature. Only dynamic XFA forms, an Adobe-specific format, cannot be filled in here; the tool tells you so.
